Radio Survey

Wireless surveys are crucial! Each site will have varying levels of background noise. Minimum signal headroom must be checked to ensure reliable communication. This is essential to ensure immunity against site attenuation.

The primary objective of the WFS radio system is to reduce substantially the wiring normally associated with fire alarm systems by using radio frequency as the communication medium.
Radio waves have very different characteristics to wired links and it is necessary to ensure that every possible source of attenuation (reduction) of the radio signal path is identified and fully considered in the design of the fire alarm system.

A radio/data transmission survey is therefore a necessary and very important part of every radio system design. This preparatory work will ensure a good operational radio signal is achieved and all relevant system components are included in the design costs.

The reliability of data to be transmitted by a radio fire alarm system is primarily determined by the radio survey.

A radio survey kit is included in your training pack and additional kits can be purchased as required.
